At roughly half the cost of traditional coffee roast analyzers - the JAVALYTICS RDA-D - is a leap forward in laboratory instrument engineering. Using a set of infrared diodes as the source, the JAVALYTICS accurately measures the degree of roast in both ground and whole bean coffee.

Unlike the RDA-U, the RDA-D is a "downward" looking model that does NOT require a petri dish to hold coffee samples coffee for color measurement.This model is similar to current Agtron systems, where the sample is presented in a sliding drawer at the bottom of the unit.

Our newest firmware 5.x includes - ColorMatch  - software feature that allows you to create your own color scales to precisely match any existing color system.

There are numerous reasons why one would choose a RDA-D over a RDA-U.

1. Preference - some people prefer to use the more standard "Agtron type" of "downward looking" instrument as opposed to the more conventional "upward looking" model. 

2. GMP/HACCP - for those roasters seeking Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification or HACCP certification, many organizations DO NOT allow any form of glass in food facilities. Since the RDA-D does NOT utilize any glass petro dishes, this safety factor is eliminated, thereby preventing any complications during food safety/certification processes.
