I've heard from a couple coffeeshop owners say its best to have your coffee beans flavored than to use syrups (i.e Torani, etc) into the brewed cup. They argue that:

1. The beans are not uniformly flavored.
2. The high level of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in flavoring syrups is bad for your health.

Be aware if you do use flavored beans make sure you use a seperate grinder for the flavored coffee as otherwise you'll taint the regular coffee when grinding.
The resulting taint is really noticeable. Shocked

I agree that flavoring the beans is better than the syrup flavorings. I believe the high fructose corn syrup affects your endocrine system. The flavoring that I am familiar with does not use HFCS. Ditto on the grinder recommendation!

There is some research evidence from U.C.D. that consuming fructose promotes obesity - over an equivalent intake of glucose, that is.
